Programs
Black Heron Arts offers a range of interdisciplinary programs that bring artists into conversation with one another and the natural world. Our offerings include hands-on workshops in narrative arts, music, theatre, and visual art; intimate salon gatherings that blend performance with dialogue; and immersive retreats that integrate creative practice with nature-based inspiration, including elements of regenerative farming and land stewardship. Visiting guest artists lead lectures, demonstrations, and skill-based workshops, inviting fresh perspectives and deepening the exchange. Across all programs, we center process, collaboration, and the belief that meaningful work grows from both community and connection to place.
We are proud to be partnered with the Pressbox Theater for our workshop and education programs.

Mentorship
Our one-on-one mentorship program pairs artists with industry-leading professionals for individualized guidance and support. Mentors provide focused feedback, help shape creative projects, and offer insight into both artistic development and professional pathways, fostering growth across disciplines.

Education
We provide arts education programming for local Connecticut students through partnerships with schools and community organizations to offer hands-on artistic experiences that encourage curiosity, experimentation, and confidence, enabling young people to discover their voice and engage with the arts in a way that feels both personal and expansive.
THe landscape
Black Heron Arts is situated within a landscape that feels both hidden and alive—nine acres of woods, water, and cultivated ground. A waterfall gives way to a babbling brook, paths lead to a quiet cottage, and the garden and greenhouse hum with slow, seasonal growth. Here, the fire pit draws people together as the trees hold space for stillness, creating an environment where ideas surface naturally and creativity takes root.
